As of Thursday last, I beat the semi-offical goal of TdF – spinning the same number of metres as there are kilometres in the Tour de France!
This year, the Tour is 3,333km, and with the skein pictured (WoW Indulgent Tart, 200g -> 838.3m 2-ply, fingering weight), I’ve spun 3,711.8m!
Since then, I have been thoroughly humiliated by clue #3 of WoW’s Golden Fleece mystery spinalong, Espionage (space-dyed wool, Corriedale and sari silk). I’ve tried to spin it from the fold, long draw, and short forward draw, on 3 different wheels, at different speeds and tensions, and every time it just falls apart on me. So last night I threw it back in the basket to think about its behaviour, and substituted 100g of WoW Polypaca (70% Alpaca, 30% Polwarth) instead.
